Code of Conduct

From Neon Jungle Living Community Wiki

Applicability and Scope

This code of conduct applies to all activity on and relevant to the Neon Jungle discord server, including direct messages between mutual members. The Discord community guidelines are applicable to all Neon Jungle server activity, please do not get us in trouble.

Mission Statement

The Neon Jungle Living Community promotes a space for playing good Shadowrun games of all themes.

Principles and Guiding Rules

Inclusivity

Please be respectful of other users on the server.

  • Do not include content hostile to anyone on the basis of their identity in your communications.
  • Take it seriously if somebody suggests you’ve posted something that violates the above rule, and don’t start a flame war.
  • We do not consider beliefs that break this rule to be a protected part of your identity. Punch Nazis, etc.

Fair Play

Whenever an option is banned or nerfed, there will be a clear answer about what kind of respecs or grandfathering will be allowed to compensate players who were invested in that option based on avoiding disadvantaging current and future players.

  • Decision making players do not get to benefit from grandfathering even when a grandfather clause is added to a rules change.
  • Decision making players must be careful to avoid getting disproportionate benefit from rules changes.
  • Decision making players should get external validation that inappropriate bias is not determining balance decisions.

Transparency

All server policy and rules decisions are subject to complete transparency. Server moderation decisions are only subject to transparency to the extent requested by harmed parties, and personally identifying information is never subject to transparency.

  • If you want to know why a thing was decided and you don’t see why, ask and you shall be shown (in a reasonable time frame, like within a couple days ideally). This is not an excuse to not use the Search function to find public conversations, please bother to check first.

Prohibitions

NSFW Content

At this time the server does not offer any NSFW channels.

  • If a game heads toward an NSFW topic, please use a Fade to Black as appropriate.
  • If a conversation heads toward an NSFW topic, please take it to DMs with consenting individuals.

Intellectual Property Use

Plagiarism is banned.

  • Transformative use must be actually transformative, setting appropriate, and must credit the original source wherever shown.

Advertising

Do not post promotional content in any channels without explicit permission from a Moderator, Admin, or Arbiter. Especially links.

  • If a user's first post on the server is a link, that user will be banned.

Enforcement

Reporting

If you are being harassed by a member of our community, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a moderator or the arbiter by Direct Message. If the person who is responsible for your complaint is a moderator, admin, or the arbiter, they will not be provided access to your complaint or identity if you do not want them to.

Active Situations

Moderators, admins, and the arbiter are all permitted to issue mutes to stop escalating situations on the server, though their first step should be to ask for defusal of the situation and help mediate. If any of these call for an end to an argument, expect to be muted if you continue it. Continued agitating or belligerence is a violation of this rule.

  • After an argument has been stopped, you may optionally present your opinion of the events and possibly an accounting of your actions to a moderator or the arbiter via DM; this will be considered before any warnings or bans are issued.

Warnings and Bans

After a report is made or an active situation stopped, moderators and the arbiter will determine if any code violations were made. If at least two of these users agree that an involved party broke the rules intentionally or flagrantly, a warning will be issued.

  • Hate speech, harmful cybercrimes, and related activities are subject to a ban on first offense.
  • If a user has already received a warning, a ban may be issued in place of an additional warning.
